Welcome to the Saskatchewan Legislative Building, one of the most historic properties in all of Saskatchewan. Originally constructed from 1908 - 1912, the building represents the spirit of a province. The building is not only the centerpiece of government in Saskatchewan but also represents a vital link , through tourism and education, to our heritage. In 1997, a restoration of the Legislative Building was begun to preserve this building that has played an essential role in Saskatchewan's history. The emergency rehabilitation project, completed in 2001, addressed major structural deficiencies to stabilize the buildings foundation. The restoration work ensures the safety of those visiting and working in this prestigious building and ensures this provincial treasure can be enjoyed by future generations. The rehabilitation project also included upgrades to the buildings fire code and accessibility standards. Accessibility upgrades included the construction of the new Prince of Wales entrance which enables an access at the building's north wing for people with mobility impairments. This site has been designed to give you an understanding of the magnitude of the emergency rehabilitation project. Along with an overview of the project you will find on this site a virtual tour of construction crews as they worked underground to install the building's new foundation. The virtual tour also offers views of various rooms and offices within the building. A video tour of the foundation work during the project is also available.A photo library contains photos of the rehabilitation project as well as the original construction of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building dating back to 1908. A brief history of early construction is also available. A number of interesting artifacts dating back to original construcion were also located during the course of this project. The artififacts are displayed on this site and can be seen at the front kiosk loated at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building. Overview
