Regina Teen Meets the Prince of Wales
It is not very often that a 16 year-old from Regina gets to rub shoulders with royalty. But that is exactly what happened on April 26, 2001 when Steven Ripplinger of Regina participated in a ribbon-cutting and plaque unveiling ceremony along with Prince Charles to officially open the Saskatchewan Legislative Building's new barrier-free entrance.

jlhammincanonw.jpg (34182 bytes)SPMC and Stevens high school held a special ceremony for Steven on April 25, 2001 where a plaque was presented to Steven by Doreen Hamilton, Minister responsible for SPMC and John Law, President of SPMC .

On March 31, 1999, SPMC entered into a Business and Education Partnership with St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School in Regina.  Students from the School have participated in this website and restoration project over the years. Included on this site are drawings from students of St.Marguerite Bourgeoys school   depicting their thoughts on Saskatchewan's history.  Please click here to view the drawings currently on this site.

Time Capsule
As part of the educational partnership,  the grade 4 students of St.Marguerite Bougeoys School along with the Minister responsible for SPMC, Honourable Doreen Hamilton, placed a time capsule in the dome of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building on December 16, 1999.

Items within the time capsule - messages to the future and reminders of this year - were selected by the students to commemorate the last year of this century. "What a wonderful way to both acknowledge the coming millennium, as well as the solid partnership between these two groups," Minister Responsible for SPMC, Doreen Hamilton, said. "In a sense, we are putting a message back into the Legislative Building, much like the message in a bottle which was recently found in the facility."
